July 19, 2011 0 Comments Wedding ettiquette by Administrator

Have you been working a lot in order to get all the details of your wedding just right? Balancing your wedding arrangements with demands of work and family life can be a very arduous task. Two things that keeps you going are the wedding itself when you will be a princess for a day and the honeymoon that follows it immediately. After all, who wouldn’t love the idea of disappearing to an exotic location for a couple of weeks with the person they love? However, there is still one thing that has to be done because your wedding related work is not completed till you send out Thank You cards.

Sending out Thank You cards is the accepted practice after weddings and not doing so is a very serious breach of etiquette. Failing to thank people for spending their time and hard earned money to buy you a gift can show in a very unfavourable light and you should avoid this at any cost. Admittedly, the task is a big one if you have received a lot of gifts but you still have to do so and that too within an accepted time limit. The accepted practice is that Thank You cards are to be sent within 3 months of the wedding and no later. The people who made you the gifts also understand that you have gone off on a honeymoon and they will not be expecting the cards immediately after the wedding.

Should The Bride And Groom Take Professional Dance Lessons For Their First Dance?

July 17, 2011 0 Comments Wedding General by Administrator

Most people getting ready for their wedding day are little prepared for all that they have to do first. There is much more to wedding preparations than sending out wedding invites and getting a beautiful venue organized. The wedding reception itself will take up a lot of your time and effort because there are many details, both big and small, that you have to sort out in order for it to be perfect. The part of the wedding reception that everybody looks forward to is dancing because this is when the formalities are over and people can begin to let their hair down. This is also the time that you and your spouse can do your first dance together as a married couple, making it a very important part of the ceremony.

Dancing is such an important part of a wedding reception that there are many formalities concerning them. There are clear cut rules and guidelines about the sequence of dances that have to take place before other guests can join in. For instance, the festivities are started when the bride and groom dance together. Immediately afterwards come the parent dances when the bride dances with her father and the groom with his mother.

Should I Hire A Professional Master Of Ceremonies Or Use A Friend?

July 14, 2011 0 Comments Wedding General by Administrator

Do you think that you have no more arrangements to be made for your wedding once you have booked your venue and caterers and bought your dress and sent out your wedding invites? There are so many arrangements to be made for your wedding that it is easy to see how the total cost keeps on escalating. You might then feel tempted to take shortcuts in order to save money here and there. One way in which many people try to save money is by roping in a friend to be the master of ceremonies rather than hiring a professional to do a job. This seems to be a good idea in theory but there are many disadvantages to it as well. You should have a clear understanding about what each option entails so that you can make the right decision.

The choice of Master of Ceremonies is not something that you should trifle with or leave till the last minute. The Master of Ceremonies has a very important role to play in the wedding. This person can be either male or female and has the job of making announcements and ensuring that the entire event goes along smoothly. All announcements have to be made with a sense of style befitting the occasion and care must be taken to ensure that all names are pronounced properly.

Traditional Tiered Wedding Cakes Vs Wedding Cupcakes

July 12, 2011 0 Comments Wedding ettiquette by Administrator

One of the best things about planning a wedding is getting to choose the kind of cake you will serve after the ceremony. This is when you get to indulge your sweet tooth trying out different varieties of cakes so that you make your final selection. Another choice you will have to make is whether the cake will be professionally made or not. In addition, you would obviously make your selection of the size of cake based upon the number of people you have sent wedding invites to, but you still have to decide whether you want to go for a traditional tiered wedding cake or for the modern trend of serving wedding cupcakes. There are advantages and disadvantages of going for both options and you should understand them carefully before making your selection.

Wedding cakes are quite expensive to begin with and the price goes up according to the weight of the cake and the amount of decorations you want it to have. You do have to keep your total budget for the wedding firmly in mind because you have to spend money on other things as well, from hiring the venue to organizing catering to getting wedding invites printed and sent out. If you are getting it professionally done, a tiered wedding cake is not much more expensive than wedding cupcakes because bakers price these cupcakes quite high because of all the work that has to go into decorating each of them. Another factor that you have to consider is that you might have to arrange for a cupcake stand whereas a baker will be able to lend you a tiered cake stand without a problem. Besides, a tiered wedding cake is stunning to look at whereas a stand of cupcakes is very cute but not imposing.
